spam from USA
strike against garbage
If you like power pills ordered on the Internet , has to cope with a dwindling supply at present. Internet providers have shut down one of the biggest spammers.
By Mirjam Hauck
Still, scientists are divided on whether spam is a lucrative business indeed: Do the senders of unsolicited commercial e-mails more revenue than the global Drug Mafia?
afflicted users whose e-mail box overflows each day, this information does not really help. This proved to be mostly a functioning spam filters - or the rigorous crackdown by Internet providers.
As the Washington Post reports, have cut two American Internet providers on Tuesday the California Hoster McColo the lines and it thus taken from the network. then sank to the newspaper, the global spam volumes on the same evening by 66 percent.

According to the findings of the IT security experts is a so-called Bullet Proof McColo Hoster. The company had therefore via so-called botnet master server. This can be controlled million infected PCs to spread spam for counterfeit drugs and designer goods. According to experts McColo was previously responsible for 75 percent of global spam volume.
The question is whether this decline will be permanent. The spammers will find, sooner or later, probably a new company for their illegal activities - be it in America, Russia or China. For these countries are the most spam attacks.
flow per day about 160 billion illegal e-mails through the Internet. Although overcome only about five percent of the spam filter e-mail provider. In fact, only one is clicked 10,000. to 100 000 E-mail.
Those users who have actually on the offers for fake pills make bait and clicked on that website now, one to three percent of the products also. An illegal online pharmaceutical shipper according to expert estimates generated by this practice about 150 million dollars in sales per year.
of the downed hosting, however, was not only specialize in spam. As the Washington Post further reported, were up to 40 websites with child pornography on the servers of McColo. They registered 15000-25000 visitors each day.
Even with a hacker attack in the Trojans by more than half a million bank- and credit card information was stolen, servers were involved in the company.
Whether the U.S. police authorities to determine McColo is, according to the Washington Post is still unclear. Neither the FBI nor the Secret Service gave an opinion as to this case. Under U.S. law, may web hosts within their network for illegal activities is not liable - except for copyright infringement and child pornography.

The Missing Years
divorce, smoking, place of residence: What are the risks life as strongly reduce
The starting point is an almost trivial and assured by many studies finding: The life expectancy of men and women of middle age is highest when they drink little alcohol, no smoking, married, feel healthy, high school and have done a job as employees. Now the Demographers Anne Kruse, Elena Muth and Gabriele Dobler tried out to reduce the risks the lives, how much. The result stunned at least in the dimensions: A 50-year-old smoker has a lower life expectancy by 18 years as a man does with regard to his health it right.
The topics of the question Study, which has now published a short version (Demographic research first-hand, 3 / 2008) was: What are living conditions, disease characteristics or behavior cost how many years of life? The researchers used mortality data from official statistics and the Socio-Economic Panel to calculate this. They defined a 50-year-old "Superman" and a 50-year-old "Super Woman", which cut through behavior, biography and health in the life expectancy statistics best. These other people were compared to their careers are influenced by various risks.
Medical risk factors therefore contribute more than social. Thus men who, with their Health are dissatisfied, lower by 19 years of life expectancy than the "Superman". Apparently suffering from those who judge themselves not as healthy, actually often serious diseases. In women, the figure nearly 18 years is similar. Similar rate increases, the number of years of life in people who suffer at the age of 50 years of age diabetes, smoking heavily or drink much alcohol (see chart).
comparison, is the impact of social influences weakened. Shortens the life of unemployment by 14 years. A divorce reduces the life expectancy compared with the ideal types for almost ten years, similar to a lower degree.
differences between men and women show only a few factors. For example, the life expectancy of women living alone less a few years, in men does not occur on this effect. Also infertility (which is not in men in the statistics recorded in full) acts in women statistically live easy shortening. "This can happen with women in the absence of social contacts, but also biological factors are," says co-author Elena Muth, who works at Rostock's center for demographic change.
The individual, surprisingly high level of risk may however not lead to an addition - for example in the sense that the life expectancy of an unemployed, divorced smoker for 14 plus nine reduced plus 18 years. "Risk factors often cause each other, so the overall effect is smaller than the individual effects," says Elena Muth.

SZ: You should know things that the grandchildren
Süddeutsche Zeitung 11th March 2008
Is not life beautiful? No.
autobiographies of pop musicians are not really necessary. Only by Mark Oliver Everett of the Eels do not.
By Alex Rühle
Who this evening in the Munich Muffathalle is in anticipation of a stomach-strengthening Eels concert should prepare themselves to the fact that he will first see a one-hour documentary by Mark Oliver Everett, singer, composer, multi instrumentalist and frontman of the otherwise in constantly changing cast occurring Eels, has made for the BBC in search of clues to his father and his work. Hugh Everett III
, quantum physicist, CIA employees and inventor, developed in 1957 the theory of parallel universes that the time was derided as a complete humbug. Everett senior, well anyway a silent type, then pulled back in a dark parallel universe, he was within the Family some sort of black hole that circled all the life energy and withdrew silently to himself. Mark Oliver Everett found him one morning, as he himself was 19 years old, dead in bed, the father had died the night of a heart attack.
"Sartre rocks. But not as I do."
Everett remembers well how he shook it, it was the first contact between the two for years. "I did not even know how I should feel," he writes in his autobiography. "My father had just died, but I did not have any relationship with him. The worst was having to watch the doctors in how they put him in a black bag, the zipper closes and then the sack with him in it wore out. You did not put him on a stretcher. You just have this black bag out worn like a garbage bag. "
No" oh my god, unfortunately I then went blank "
autobiographies of rock musicians, that's pretty much the last genre, what a rational human interest. As we since bekokst in the chandelier hung, and then tour the west coast down, oh my god, unfortunately I then went blank and I know absolutely no idea what has happened in the years between the two great albums...
Everett's recently published autobiography " Things The Grandchildren Should Know "(Little, Brown, 228 pages 14.99 pounds) is a kind of counter-program the narcissism of the pop business. It is written from the middle of his pain and silence out of the family than he would have sharpened the silence at home, and his lifelong solitude hearing for all the wrong notes and phrases.
His father wanted to throw his legacy in the trash, a wish that the ACTING mother. His sister, whom he loved madly in childhood, which then drifted in binge drinking, and schizophrenic delusions Drogendelirien worlds brought about. His mother died of cancer. The last family who he was, his cousin sent him on the morning of the 11th September 2001, a postcard: "Is life is not beautiful? "An hour later, she died in the aircraft, which was driven into the Pentagon, Hugh Everett's last work.
digging through the pain tunnel
It would be an understatement to say that the life of Mark Oliver Everett with a fairly rough sandpaper edited. Such people often develop a Leidenshochmut, ah, you whiners, what you know of miseries, pass through their lines as the Messiah and have their fate before him like a host.
Everett is a grumpy young one, a misanthropic loner, but he finds in his remarkable childhood, surrounded by middle class families CIA, suddenly, surprising, as beguilingly beautiful moments in the total solitude at the beginning of his career for years humiliating jobs and evenings, nights, weekends, composing, a manic run up a trench through the pain tunnel which holds them as the only alive.
The book ends with a description of how uncomfortable he feels when he filled in the registration form at the doctor because he or she does not know what he should enter in the column to contact in an emergency. "No family is to have the loneliest feeling holidays are just disgusting, I do always as they would be held if not I would die tomorrow, you could write on my grave:.. Curiously, titled Everett, who had the time of his death, no children, not to mention of grandchildren, his autobiography 'things you should know the grandchildren. " "
acoustic counterpart to Bart
What we finally had music at Everett." Things The Grandchildren Should Know "is not only the title of his autobiography, but also the last song on his great album" Blinking Lights ", where he spent seven working years. And this album, which is now the miracle of Everett, is identical to his autobiography, at the end of a hymn to life, precisely because they are operations has been in pain.
Yes, "Blinking Lights" is one these works of art, like a blow to the head Act as they would show a sudden the whole life from the outside, looking down at last, before it's over. Or as he put it in the song "Hey You" with this aggressive voice, which is the acoustic counterpart to his downy-Struwwel beard himself puts it: "Do you know what it's like to fall on the floor / And cry your guts out ' til you got no more / Hey man now you're really living. "
You can now hear this song again. Or watch it, it sings like Everett: Parallel to his autobiography, Everett has published two double-CDs, "Meet The Eels". and "Useless Trinkets" (both released on Geffen). The first is a Best of Eels, by the artist himself, including video-DVD.
The second, which could be translated as "useless trinkets" includes, 50 extractions, B-sides, new interpretations, remixes and it shows what is Everett for a brilliantly versatile musician, sometimes he has old songs alone recorded again, sometimes with friends re-interpreted, and then the top five albums draw again in compressed form over on one.
In several parallel universes sound
He says in his biography that he had no idea in theoretical terms about what it did with the parallel universes of his father up. From a practical point, however, which is noticeable when listening to the "Useless Trinkets" again, Mark Oliver Everett is on the road for many years in several parallel universes sound.
He composed at the same time the pieces of the loud, rockgeschrubbten album "Soul Jacker", the melancholic "Daisies of the Galaxy" and some songs of the Gesamtkunstwerk, "Blinking Lights". And why, he wonders on the last page of his book, "Why, if only I am such an outspoken atheist, I find myself always at hand as I sit in the backyard, look in the night sky and with Mom, Liz and Dad speak? "

A very interesting text on the OECD education strategy can be found here:
The Political Feasibility of Adjustment (Christian Morrison)
An excerpt:
"After this description of risky measures, we can now recommend many measures Which political cause no difficulty. To reduce the fiscal deficit, very substantial cuts in public investment or the trimming of operating expenditure involve no political risk. If operating expenditure is trimmed, the quantity of service should not be reduced, even if the quality has to suffer. For example, operating credits for schools or universities may be reduced, but it would be dangerous to restrict the number of students. Families will react violently if children are refused admission, but not to a gradual reduction in the quality of the education given, and the school can progressively and for particular purposes obtain a contribution from the families, or eliminate a given activity. This should be done case by case,in one school but not in the neighbouring establishment, so that any general discontent of the population is avoided."

Unwanted justice
Unwanted Justice: A brilliant polemic against educational privilege
About the book "The privilege of education. Why equality is not wanted" by Bruno Preisendörfer
Even in the recent election campaigns, there were plenty of warnings about the comprehensive school. In Lower Saxony, parents and teachers found an alliance for action "Multitrack school system" together. Younger members of the teachers' association, which represents the interests of high school teacher, spoke of a "direction of choice" and stoked fears of the "forced unity school where all students (affectionately philologists!) - Other than in schools today - regardless should learn from their performance together. " Hesse A citizens' initiative wants to "represent the interests of parents who do not want to subject to the dictates of ideological egalitarianism.
You hear it and nods, without long thinking: all roads lead to the comprehensive school is well known to Moscow. Who against the early selection of Child is experiencing, but from extraneous, ideological motives, in addition, is an enemy of performance.
Those who value freedom and justice, "freedom of choice of parents" and a "gifted just" structured school system, must not fall of the advocates of comprehensive schools in the arm?

If Two-year Marketing: Julie wanted to know what's Elite
peter-wagner
a year visited Julia Frederick, 28, so-called elite forges. She wondered what elite is. Today she says: An elite schools be deprived normal life. An interview with a much-used term and what he has to do with fear.
you have applied up to three years at McKinsey and wrote a text about the local competition. Was that the starting point for searching for your Book *?
Exactly. McKinsey at that time the term "elite" as propagated ". We shape elites, elites who we do is with us, is elite." I thought: Uh, what do you mean?
At the end of your application, a contract was even before you. Have you considered to sign?
I had one, delayed two weeks - the temptation was suddenly so great. It made me even scared how much it kicked me to have made the arrangements. And when I had a contract in hand, would have meant so much money ... How much
would have been?
67,000 euros in the first year plus car ... but in the end My skepticism was larger.
But you have experienced this moment in which one has the feeling of belonging to a select circle.
Absolutely.
Is this feeling a motive to want to belong to an elite?
There is more. The students at elite universities responded to my question as to whether they were afraid of work to be categorically 'no'. If one is elite, you're going on a lot of worries.
Which universities have you visited for your research?
I was mainly at the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel - there I met a student more than a year away again and again. Then I was at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, at the WHU in Vallendar and then I still students of the Bavarian Elite Academy made.
Where did you even study?
In Dortmund.
What is the difference between the universities?
to the private sector universities to study only 25 to 30 percent of girls - the next big business seems to be a male. And I noticed that everything is named after whom. The newest building is at EBS Kiep, Walther Leisler Kiep Center for. The entrance is by a furniture company, the lecture halls are called "German Bank" lecture hall or Daimler-Chrysler-space.
hard Maybe, but: Can you "elite" defined?
"elite" is pushing for many a label to yourself. The term is unclear. Everyone uses it, as he needs it. At the boarding schools where grades do not matter, it is said: We are a responsible elite. On the business universities is said: We are a power elite. My impression was that there the money elite plays an important role. Therefore, I think the term today for a public debate for useless. If someone asks me whether we need elites, I could not say yes or no.
If only the term a problem? Or is it a problem that in principle Are areas in which to withdraw "money elites" or "power elites"?
The private educational career begins today with two years ago. Parents buy kindergartens for 1,000 euros a month and then it continues like this until the end of the course. This development, I think is wrong. Because I have a feeling that these children are pulled out from normal life and with all that is normal to have little to do.
Is this a characteristic of elite?
Yes. But the places are very exclusive. This is already a message sent: Here is something exquisite. And Elite works by taking a few people and tell them that they were Elite. The students of the Bavarian Elite Academy, which I experienced as a very thoughtful, who had therefore a big problem with the term elite. Because they always said: We have good students, we are strict with us. But we are so much more!
is why the term has become so popular? It seems to me that the term would be used as a tool with which to various problems, can cure, for example in education.
Well, in the end I thought I had sympathy with the word. Because it is one of the most instrumented words in the current discussion. One wants to fight first, the German-lagging fear. Second, use it, especially the private Educational institutions to upgrade themselves. It's chic to say that this elite is educated. That sounds better than "We are children of wealthy parents a good school or university."
What experiences have you brought back from the one year research?
I was, for example in a private kindergarten, and I also get a guided tour. I was then shown the basement: There was a complete wellness area with sauna and physiotherapy - because the already often had back pain. It was like an anticipation of the managers lives. Highly absurd.
Can it be that we have learned the elite nature only in the last 10 or 15 years?
Gerhard Schroeder in 1998 said in his first policy speech: Now we need another elite! Thus, the natural enemy of the elite, social democracy has given the okay. This has been a change, I believe. And that so many organizations describe themselves as openly as an elite, which had not existed a few years ago.
Is there a tightening of the conditions of formation? That man, well, is to be made usable?
This has continued throughout my research: knowledge should always be directly usable. This can already be observed in two-year-old, whose parents think about English and Chinese, because they use the language . Keep And not because they find them beautiful. It is about better opportunities in the labor market. And another example: We were in a small school for children "from 2-year-old" - because the children learn marketing!
it? With two years?
you have a toy monster design from the point: to look like the monster, so that now most children? And two, the children!
That sounds like a perversion of the ECI-thought.
But this infant school enjoys a great demand. The parents want this case of small children were the mainly upper middle-class parents who are simply a fear of hell have their child fails or becomes unemployed. The thinking: If he can with two years ago so much, then do not fail because he can. There is an "elite" as an insurance policy.

Geomarketing: The Merkel next door
The Merkel next door
advertising strategists never knew so much about us as it is today. From each household, they know beer consumption, arthritis risk and payment habits. "Geo" now links these data with digital maps. At a glance, see who buys what where. What the readers know about the chancellor and her neighbors?
By Max Rauner
Max Rauner for this article, Acatech Prize for Engineering Journalism 2007 in the category "Magazine / journal has been awarded (ed)
It is no secret: Angela Merkel lives with her husband Joachim Sauer to the Pergamon Museum, on the fourth floor of a yellow-painted tenement, by a copper trench 6, 10117 Berlin. Is everything online, googled with a photo of the front door, simply "copper pit," and "Merkel".
Since Google Earth allows the flying around in satellite photos you can see the Chancellor and the roof. A surveillance camera in the Pergamon Museum recently accidentally peered through the windows of the Merkel-sour-home.
Who really look behind the facade of the Chancellor House would like who goes to the best in the west of Germany in Bonn-Bad Godesberg. Here, the company infas geodata in the former residence of the Indian Ambassador up quarters. Managing director Michael Hertzberg, a Rhenish young entrepreneurs with new-economy experience and American optimism, has built up his laptop and conference room projectors. If desired, he typed in the address of Mrs. Merkel.
appears on the wall is a city map of Berlin-Mitte with the road of the Federal Chancellor. About the House knows Herter's computer a lot: before 1900 built, six households, design satisfactorily, there is no garden, no foreigners, affinity for customer cards: moderate, affinity for private health insurance: Medium, residents: disinterested financial type, traditional fixed-line users, no Internet Power User, dominant Ages 51 to 60 years, diabetes and arthritis than average, below average fitness, a lot of Audi, Mercedes and BMW, Volkswagen little.
intimate Germany in 2006. It's not about the Chancellor, it is about us all. For 19 million buildings in Germany - almost all new homes - can get Michael Herter dozens of data, from net income of the residents about common diseases to people purchasing power. Who wants to know? For example, E-Plus, the Postal Bank, AOL, T-Mobile, Rossmann, Vorwerk, Arcor, the ADAC, Novartis, Teyssen Sold you infas Spatial maps identifying the anonymous consumer and environment data of Germans are shown detailed. A topography of consumption.
It is the nightmare of data protection and the dream of marketing and advertising strategists. There are comprehensive databases with customer information, although for some time, they fill the hard drives from address brokers, government agencies, banks and insurance companies. But now comes a new dimension to the game: the combination of the data with digital maps and maps you can zoom in as the vice with the binoculars at a nudist beach. "Geo" is called that when abstract number columns are to walk-in customer environments.
Michael Hertzberg is right to ride when he enthuses about the possibilities of consumer cards - "we think geo," he cries, "What others think in tables." He pauses, as if waiting for the echo from the stucco ceiling. "That is our extremely" missionary, he finally says, "few have understood it."
On Herter maps company at a glance, in which roads people BMW ride, Where the young families in which street a Lidl would run better than Edeka business. The net income and household consumption are included in the statistics.
On the copper trench should be open, for example, not a sports store, because for sportswear, knows the Society for Consumer Research (GfK) in Nuremberg, give Mrs Merkel and her neighbors on average only 10 euros a year, almost 40 percent less than the national average. Plants for Home and Garden (132 €), and Hardware items (474 €) are in the Merkel-quarter sales well below average.
quite different in the country, such as the Palatine village Steinfeld, the home of Kurt Beck. As much as distinguish the new SPD leader and the Chancellor in their political views, so different are their souls statistically identified consumers.
Beck and neighbors buy for an average of € 602 per resident per year at the hardware store, they give from 172 € to plants, and the tradition of butchery Katus may be a high demand pleased to meat and meat products (334 € per inhabitant per year, 10 percent above the average). Palatine liver sausage, the GfK in their statistics are not yet separately, but to determine their own consumption probably would not be a problem.
The Credibility of the Germans captured on road plans. When Kurt Beck and his neighbors in online shops or order by mail order, they can safely deliver the account, the payment practices of stone fields - typically land - very good. In the next small town of Bad Bergzabern where Beck works as a hairdresser wife Rosie, the risk of default rises sharply in some areas. And in Berlin, it is teeming with payment and muffles Debtors, including Merkel's District (see map on page 40).
know How they do that? Of a puzzle of house inspections, surveys, mail order and debtor information, snippets of data from address brokers, government agencies and businesses. The rest is statistics. "There are endless data in large companies that are screaming to be prepared," said Herter, "almost every piece of information has a spatial reference."
One should, however, the misunderstanding in any case. The entries for copper trench 6, which had no data on Mrs Merkel and her husband, "what is personal," we do not. Privacy Policy. Although much information from authorities and companies personal collected, but the address dealers then form to anonymize the mean of at least five households. Only these values are again based on an address. They describe a statistical Angela Merkel is not the true person.
addition Herter sits Eckhard George, chief marketing officer. He says. "We describe coordinates, not people"
for the Federal Data Protection Commissioner Peter Schaar is exactly the problem: "Who lives in the wrong place that is assessed a flat rate and get also a loan granted or with bad conditions," At. This so-called geo-scoring individuals could contribute only limited to his image, such as Relocation of residence. "This is highly questionable social policy." It threatens social exclusion. Schaar urges new rules to prevent that.
Where it becomes critical, showed two years ago, an electronic phone book of the Germany company Klicktel. There, not only addresses and telephone numbers were available for each person were also purchasing power and payment behavior displayed. Klicktel got the data on infas geodata. Although only back averages for at least five households, but the presentation suggested otherwise. Klicktel received a warning and took the CD from the market.
Today we fit in better, which hired the customer with the data, says Michael Herter. He However, it remains a friend, "the fact that information is up to a certain level of access."
There is anyway no escape. Geo has long become reality, more and more companies and government agencies rely on the spatial analysis of customers:
- The mobile operator E-Plus responds with his trademark Ay Yildiz ("Crescent and Star"), the Turks in Germany. The company is using geo-marketing software to divide the map into areas where they live with the same number of Turks. With these cards, sales regions are planned. From geo-ethnic marketing is here.
- shoppers in the online bookstore can, in theory, usually by direct debit, invoice or Credit card. When it's virtual office read: "In this case, the account number is not possible," are probably indebted to many neighbors or do not pay their bills. Some call center apparently having a similar profiling analyze the phone numbers so that callers get from better-off roads in the queue to the front.
- The health insurance fund AOK experimented for a few months with spatial data to assess the quality of hospitals and to advise their insured. Must be an AOK-heart surgery patient, the offices can see at a glance, in which hospital the doctors have much experience with this surgery. The prescribing practices of physicians may soon be physically present.
- If McDonald's is planning a new store, select an area manager of expansion with 30 km radius. On the digital map will appear including purchasing power and age distribution of residents. This is how the manager to see if and where a new branch could be expected. Drug stores and many chain stores have in practice only.
- More than 90 percent of all households in Germany will receive unaddressed leaflets added, were 1.7 billion last year, addressed direct mail. With the help of spatial data the companies try to place their advertising on target. In Hamburg snob-road lands Advertising for designer eyewear, high-rise buildings in Berlin-Moabit be supplied with bargain advertising. The advertising objectors are recorded on cards.
We can now connect to the front door and attach the faith to live in a cozy neighborhood with mature habitat structures. For the Turkish greengrocer on the corner may be true yet. Otherwise, however, is the realistic assumption that there is left little to chance.
The kitchen shop around the corner - did not have it analyzed by GfK purchasing power in the kitchen area. The direct bank advertising in the mailbox this morning - has identified us as the online-spending budget of the civil center. The ear, nose and throat specialist over - got his site analysis of the Geosoftware the physicians' association. The new neighbors - have relied on the geographic information system of their broker.
Life is a Truman Show. Do not be surprised if the house next door, opened a store for your favorite jam.
geo works because the man is a social being. "Our guiding principle is:> joins DC and DC is like, '" Egbert said of the GfK Lohse, Department of Regional Studies. People with similar lifestyles, education, life purpose and age are found. Live in the university academics, artists in the local neighborhoods, wealthy families in affluent suburbs the city, next to retired pensioners, workers in addition to workers, in addition to Turks Turks.
Even those who opt for individual, nonconformist and has failed, needs only time to ring the neighbors. The talk turned out to be as safe, but probably bought the house one at Manufactum.
It is therefore sufficient if the readers know in a neighborhood about a few people notice something specific, for example, because the neighbor has taken part in a survey of GfK.
As Egbert Lohse last year and came to the GfK in Nuremberg was looking for a flat, he would stroll through the streets, cafes and visit the Town can sniff. Instead, he went to the Internet. In a rudimentary www.martviewer.com the GfK consumer for Nuremberg and Fürth Atlas has posted online. After a few clicks Lohse knew the environment of the advertised apartments. He looked young neighbors, no families, not retirees. An apartment in the Maxfeldstraße fit the profile.
reveals about Lohse's new neighbors, the demo software today: 25 households, 21 men, 18 women, 4 foreigners households, 16 singles, 8 neighbors are under 30, the purchasing power is 9 percent above the national average, 6 neighboring households have over 2600 to 4000 Euros , 4 are even higher.
If Lohse is to declare a party, what's geo marketing, He says: Something like Google Earth. He loves to fly with Google Earth over the earth. In geo-Mart called the programs viewer, MapInfo and market analyst. Marketing people, who once clicked around in it to be addictive.
GfK can for each road segment in Germany to create a purchasing power levels, specifically for 61 product lines of automotive supplies, to baked goods and women's clothing to pet food. Who pays for more than 10 000 €, you get the information for the entire Republic.
At issue is not the transparent citizen, says Egbert Lohse, on the contrary, the consumer benefits of geo-marketing. The more accurately know the trade, the customers, the more targeted to leave Advertising address. "Nobody wants to be bombarded with advertising."
The most personal data, many people appeared to be voluntary and would like price, income up to the holiday destination. The GfK recorded in her "ConsumerScan" regularly all food purchases of 20 000 households and collects the purchases in the non-food sector through representative surveys. Statisticians expect the whole of Germany is high, similar to pollsters.
Infas spatial data uses the data of the Schober Group, which evaluates each year around 600 000 so-called lifestyle questionnaires with more than 120 questions. By participating, can win a digital camera. The company guards 50 million Home addresses with detail information. By participating

Representative surveys of more than 30 000 Germans are the foundation added, will in turn purchase power data and the assessment of residential neighborhoods. The Microm partners and DDS card specialist from London makes it colorful environment maps.
locates on Kupfergraben Microm especially post-materialists (see page 39), Kurt Beck, however, is surrounded in stone field of consumer materialists, says the German is the sine-shaped materialistic underclass. Microm also informed about the payment behavior of households - the information obtained from Creditreform, an association exchange in which almost all department stores and retail chains in Germany information about credit-worthy customers, and payment muffle.
All this can be considered a scandal, and the Geo-scoring, which assigns to every house at risk of default, the geo goes too far. From a commercial perspective it is indeed only logical zoom deeper and deeper into the realm of the consumer, as long as it is legally permissible. Questionable, however, the sale of information collected by law or by public funds:
- The Federal Motor Transport Authority offers "micro-geographical analysis of its ship register" upon payment of costs "." In each case approximately 20 households summarized on the KBA reveals which car brands they drive, how many new and used cars are available and how much hp have. Thanks KBA, we know that Mrs. Merkel travels environment Roadster, Van and Convertible, with car power house of the Federal Chancellor reaches 6 of 9 points. The Federal Data Protection Commissioner Peter Schaar criticized the business of the KBA. "I think it's problematic when authorities provide data for fiscal reasons, which are used for scoring"
. - The state survey offices of each house for sale in Germany, the coordinates down to the centimeter. In early 2006 came as the final states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Thuringia Community to disseminate the house coordinates (GVHK) at. Since then coordinates the national mapping agency of North Rhine-Westphalia, the data deal. The GPS data for all hotels in Germany - the basis of geomarketing - come on two DVDs, and cost 140 000 Euro, depending on the application even more. "Business is very good at," Karin Landsberg said of the Land Surveying Office NRW. Customers are insurance companies that use the elevation data for estimation of flood damage, and the so-called data finishers.
- The German post office is not a state company more, but one of the best suppliers address. They rented their database with 36 million residential addresses for a license fee, for example, Microm. The Post itself provides customer analysis for mailings: If a lawn mower Hardware on Sale, it can to filter the addresses of all single-family houses with gardens in a radius of 20 kilometers - such an application but also by the Federal Privacy Commissioner problems.
past resembled Germany from the perspective of marketing people an impressionist painting with blurred contours. It was known that the East Germans earn less than West Germans that there are families in the affluent suburbs of the cities and that attracts people to spend more money on the land for garden plants than city dwellers. Germany today is like a 50-megapixel digital photo. Each pixel in a household, each household a consumer cell.
we know Angela Merkel better now? We know enough to use their cell best to provide you with brochures, and also know what shops are there that would best settle. But the apartment building on the copper trench 6 is a difficult case, because in the vicinity of the Chancellor, many officers stationed by the Federal and the themselves are of good data capture detectives difficult. There are also some offices in the area, which increases the error rate statistics. In any case, the geo-analysis is wrong on one point. For the address on the copper trench 6, the software recorded in digital sobriety: "underclass.
Tell us what you think: What do you think if your market research purchasing behavior, their risk of disease and their payment practices visible in digital maps? Does that make sense, because in future we will still only get the deals that interest us? Or are you sounded out and spied on?
